Double Degree Program with the University of Otago, New Zealand
Updated on 11 July 2025We are delighted to announce that the BA in Humanities and Sustainability (BAHS) program at Chiang Mai University has been honored to collaborate with the Division of Humanities at the University of Otago, one of the world's leading universities in the field of humanities, in New Zealand to establish a double degree pathway, referred to by Otago as the “articulation program.” Through this partnership, BAHS students will spend their first two years studying at Chiang Mai University before transferring to the University of Otago for two years to complete the Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies. Upon successful completion, students will be awarded degrees from both Chiang Mai University and the University of Otago, marking an exciting opportunity for academic and cross-cultural growth.

BA Global Studies
Among its diverse offerings, the Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies stands out as a flexible, interdisciplinary program with a philosophy similar to the BA in Humanities and Social Sciences (BAHS) at CMU. Students in the Global Studies Program get to study a wide range of subjects relating to various issues and themes in global society, including foreign lanugages.
This program empowers students to explore a wide range of global topics and tailor their studies to their individual interests, equipping them for success in international careers such as diplomacy, foreign affairs, international business and trade, international marketing, and global communication.

Awarded Degrees
Students who complete the requirements in BAHS program at Chiang Mai University and BA Global Studies at the University of Otago are awarded with two degrees:
1) BA Humanities and Sustainability (from Chiang Mai University)
2) BA Global Studies (University of Otago)
